Estefania, the owner of the bookstore, tells us the origins of the name “La Sabateria”. A tribute to an unfinished story.

“For years, every morning I would cross paths with a man on Palma Street, who opened his artisanal shoe shop every day. A small place with a large number of shoe polish jars in the window. We never greeted each other, but I think we knew of each other’s existence. One day, the shoe shop never reopened, nor the next day, nor the one after… and as the days passed, I began to understand that it would never open again. Later, the shoe polish jars, the window, the door disappeared… and finally, the entrance was sealed with cement. Today, there’s no trace left of it.

Surely that shoemaker, like always, opened his business for the last time one day, just like any other day, as he had done for so many years, following the same routine. And maybe that day he waited for someone to come into his shop, but I suspect that wasn’t the case.

That discreet person, who gave life to the street and paid attention to our footsteps, is just one of the many who, like that day, withdraw their dreams and projects, hopes, and realities… Events that are probably more about fate than arithmetic.”

We understand the bookstore as a unique space concept open to everyone, where you can read, listen to music, enjoy the environment, and where information is found by chance, not sought after… La Sabateria is a heartbeat, a thousand stories, a bridge between living and knowing, reading and feeling. The bookstore has the personality of a local Historic Center space, and its character and values breathe in each of its elements, which are meant to invite curiosity and reflection in passersby and book lovers.
